Record Group 256 is comprised of 998 reports and documents which were collected for a United States Presidential inquiry commission at the end of World War I. These materials were prepared  for the information of United States negotiators at the Paris Peace Conference.
     Of these 998 reports and documents, 168 dealt with Armenians and the Ottoman Empire. 22 of these reports were first person accounts related to the destruction of Armenians and Assyrians in Ottoman Turkey.
