Adorned with khachkars (stone crosses) and an ancient-looking water fountain, Saint Mary’s church is home to the largest community of Armenians in Southern California, the fifty thousand Apostolic Armenians of Glendale. A few hundred show up for services on a typical Sunday. Glendale, 1999.

This striking image is taken from Ara Oshagan’s photo-essay, "On the Western Edge of the West," which appeared in Armenian Forum, vol. 2, no. 2, pp. 57–69. The talented documentary photographer explores the diversity of Armenian communities in Southern California.
